As we begin the new Post fiscal year of 2014-2015, I am reminded of the many opportunities we have to make a difference in the lives of our fellow military veterans. We can do so, with a commitment to the mission and purpose of this organization. We must always be in pursuit of the founding principles and beliefs of the American Legion, "For God and Country."
Let us never forget the great sacrifices made by those who served before us and who are serving now. We are truly veterans…serving and supporting the growing needs of our veterans in many different ways. We also support the local community through awarding college scholarships and providing opportunities for growth and leadership through the Texas Boys State and Texas Bluebonnet Girls State programs.
Conservative investments have allowed us to start the new Post year in a strong financial position. Our financial records have been reviewed by our Post Audit Committee and all accounts have been reconciled and balanced. All funds have been properly accounted for. Our Budget & Finance Committee has presented a balanced budget for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. The budget has been extensively reviewed and approved by our Executive Committee and the General Membership.
Our primary fund raising event each year continues to be the Annual American Legion Memorial Golf Tournament held in May of each year at the Onion Creek Club. The success of this event is critical and allows Post 326 to continue its support and funding of many important veterans/community service programs.
Finally, this year we planning a special get together to discuss the future plans for both the Post and the Memorial Golf Tournament. This meeting is intended to gather ideas, suggestions and opinions on how the Post will meet its plans and goals for the future. We will meet on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 @ 6:00 pm at the Onion Creek Club. This meeting is for members only, but veterans eligible for membership are also invited to attend. Food and cold beer will be provided by the Post. RSVP to: Jim Corcoran at 512-695-6488 or firstname.lastname@example.org or via www.signupgenius.com. This is your chance to be heard and have an impact. See you there!
