Onion Creek American Legion Post 326 began on November 4, 1985 as an organization when the application for a temporary Charter was submitted.  The third and final endorsement for a permanent Charter was received on January 6, 1986.  The application for a permanent Charter was submitted on July 10, 1986, and was awarded effective September 30, 1986

Onion Creek American Legion Post 326 is a non-profit organization, has no Post-owned facilities, no capitalized investments, equipment, furniture, buildings, etc., and is a tax-exempt entity.

Post 326 is located in Travis County, of Texas, in a community of over 1200 homes surrounding the Onion Creek Club.  The Post meeting place is the Onion Creek Club house, which provides both a meeting room and dining facilities for members and guests and can easily accommodate as many as 200 people.

General Meetings are regularly scheduled on the first Wednesday of even numbered months.  Members, their spouses and/or guests, attend the meetings that include a social hour beginning at 6:00 PM, followed by a short business meeting beginning at 7:00 PM, followed by dinner and a guest speaker.  Members are charged individually for drinks and/or dinner and may pay by check, credit card, debit card, or charge to their Onion Creek Club account.

Veterans of all the U.S. military branches of service (who qualify) are eligible to become a member of the Post.  Post 326 currently has an active membership of approximately 225 members.  We do not have an American Legion Auxiliary, but spouses are welcomed and encouraged to participate in all our activities.  We publish a bi-monthly newsletter to keep our membership informed.

Post 326 supports a variety of veterans and community projects that promote and foster the ideals of the American Legion.  Please see section on Charitable Projects for a complete listing of projects supported by the Post.

To raise funds to support the charitable activities authorized and approved by the Post Executive Committee, the Post conducts an annual Memorial Golf Tournament.  The tournament is open to amateurs statewide and is played on the Onion Creek Club Original Course.  The tournament is usually conducted during the month of May.  Please see section on Memorial Golf Tournament for complete details.

Post 326 members, spouses and friends support the Ride to Recovery Project.  The Project involved a bike ride by wounded veterans from San Antonio to Ft. Worth.  The group of approximately 100 passed through Austin on March 31, 2009 and was greeted by American Legion members and their guests at a dinner hosted by Austin Post 76 (near Enfield).
