The Onion Creek American Legion Post 326 will conduct our 31st Annual Memorial Golf Tournament at the Onion Creek Club on May 9, 2019. This tournament has continued to grow in popularity providing food, beverages, prizes and great fun for players. We would love to have you join us!
In 2018 we had a highly successful event with a net profit of $32,609. Because of generous sponsor support, our net profit the last three years has totaled $108,700! Since we do not own any facilities requiring support, most of our revenue can be directly applied to our Veterans and High School Scholarships Programs and other related veteran and community charitable projects.
This year the extra revenue is being used to expand our Veterans Scholarship Program from 7 to 9 scholarships of $2,000 per scholarship to honorably discharged veterans. Since 2013 the Post has awarded 33 scholarships for a total of $65,000. We would like to further expand this program. Additionally, the Post is awarding 8 Scholarships for High School Students enrolled as active members in the JROTC Program in the amount of $1,000 per scholarship. Since 2000 the Post has awarded 137 scholarships totaling $215,000. We plan to continue to fund other veteran and community projects including Veteran Assistance/Recruitment Programs, Fisher House, Landstuhl (Germany) Hospital Care Project, Fort Hood Thanksgiving Turkeys, Paws for Veterans, American Legion Boys/Girls State and Oratorical Contest, Patriotic Community Activities (Flag Day, July4th, Veterans Day) and others.
Post 326 remains one of the ONLY Posts to award Veterans Scholarships. In the coming year we would like to do even more!
This is an amateur event. Sign up as an individual or put your own 4-person team together. Don’t have a full team? We will provide fill-in players. The maximum individual handicap is 36. Teams will be organized into three flights by team handicap.
